Julie Jackson earned her Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Brooklyn College, CUNY. She is fluent in both English and Russian.
Julie joined Schneider Speech after a decade long collegial relationship that began with a mutual admiration for, and a desire to learn from, the stuttering community. In addition to Julie’s specific interest and experience working with people who stutter, she has clinical expertise in language and speech sound disorders.
Her clinical philosophy incorporates a whole-person and whole-language approach (i.e., oral speech, sign-language, and augmentative communication devices). Her treatment style is empathic and client-focused. In working with you, Julie strives to develop a strong client-clinician alliance and to cultivate your sense of self-agency.
Julie’s career has taken her from Connecticut, to Iowa, and now back home to New York City. She works with adults, teens, children, and parents, and has acquired a wealth of clinical experience across a variety of settings, including: private practice, schools, pediatric outpatient hospitals, and sub-acute rehabilitation.
Julie currently applies her broad range of experience to her work as a clinical instructor and supervisor in the Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at New York University (NYU), where she teaches and provides supervision to graduate students in the NYU CSD Speech-Language-Hearing Disorders Clinic.
Beyond work, Julie lives a vegan lifestyle in New York City. She enjoys reading, hiking, visiting farm sanctuaries, cooking, spending time with her loved-ones, and caring for her cat with special needs, Hugo.
